Major Moscow's Assaults Cut Power Across Kyiv

Power facilities targeted in Ukraine
Ukraine's power facilities have faced escalating attacks in the past few days

During the night, Russian missile and drone strikes have led to power cuts in multiple districts of Ukraine's capital, the Ukrainian capital.

Nine people were hurt while local people in eastern districts were plunged into darkness and encountered problems to drinking water, per reports from city officials.

Meanwhile, a seven-year-old child was fatally injured in a different aerial attack in the Zaporizhzhia region in the southeastern part, according to area administrators.

Russian forces has escalated attacks on energy facilities over the last fortnight, while Ukrainian leadership has requested "substantial measures" from partner nations to increase pressure on Moscow.

"What is required is not window dressing but decisive action - from the United States, the EU and the Group of Seven - in supplying air defence systems and applying penalties," he wrote in a social media post.

Officials stated that 450 drones and more than 30 projectiles attacked energy facilities, labeling such attacks as "cynical and calculated" and against "essential services" as the weather cools.

Energy officials said Russia was "launching a major assault" and technical staff were working to restore power.

A series of attacks damaged electrical systems and apartment buildings in the capital.

Several of the people hurt in the attacks on the capital have been transported for medical care, as confirmed by city authorities.

Regional authorities said the metropolitan region endured significant strikes throughout the evening. A minor was killed and three other people were injured.

The assaults come after nights of aerial attacks in the area, sections of which are currently controlled by Russian forces.

The whole nation is in a state of readiness for hypersonic Kinzhal missile strikes, which are harder to identify.

Authorities told journalists that Moscow was intentionally trying to destroy the national power system, with assaults already impacting energy systems.

Officials stated utility staff and officials were bracing for further attacks.
